Question (on-screen): What does a day in the life of a global chief economist look like?

Joe Davis: So, a day in the life of for an economist typically involves three things. One is really just reading deeply. You know, our mission— my group’s mission—is to deliver relevant and rigorous research. So you have to read a lot. There’s a lot of smart minds out there in the world.

Secondly is really coming together as a team. Let’s hear and listen to what each has taken away from the research they are doing. Does that yield new and differentiated insights that could help our investors?

And then finally, it’s really around cultivating that healthy environment. It’s an environment with psychological safety, you can have healthy debate, you’re developing crew, giving them challenging opportunities, because we are only going to be successful if we deliver team results. No one person can drive those outcomes.
