Investor pulse: Less market pessimism, more economic optimism

One line in the chart shows the average stock market return that investors expect to see over the coming 12 months. The data are shown on an every-other-month basis from February 2017 through December 2022. It was at 2.7% in December 2022, up from 0.6% two months earlier.  Another line in the chart shows the average stock market return investors expect over the coming 10 years. The data are shown on an every-other-month basis from February 2017 through December 2022 and are steadier than for the 12-month timeframe. It was at 7.0% in October 2022, up only slightly from 7.2% two months earlier.
